“Mono is Stereo is the new psychedelic art-pop project led by longtime Austin-based drummer and multi-instrumentalist Stephen Bres. After spending a decade+ playing drums with many great Austin artists, like Shane Bartell, Chris Brecht, The Jellydots, Honeybrowne, and The Plastic Habit, Bres took some time away from music to start a legal career and a family. Now, with Mono in Stereo, he is reemerging onto the scene as a frontman with a new band and a fantastic new EP that he wrote, recorded, performed, and produced at his home studio in South Austin. This Cactus Cafe show is their official EP release show and will feature a 6-piece band of Austin heavy-weights to faithfully recreate the layered and nuanced tunes he crafted in the studio as headphone music. The Bathed in Light EP is already available for digital purchase and streaming online. Physical copies will be available at the show.
The aforementioned songsmith Shane Bartell will open the show for his longtime drummer with a slamming band of his own featuring Derek Morris on Keys and Oliver Steck on trumpet and accordion.”
This event has already finished.
The Cactus Cafe is a live music venue and bar in the historic Texas Union on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. Located in Austin, Texas, a city frequently referred to as “the live music capital of the world,” a number of well-known artists have played in the Cactus, and Billboard Magazine named it as one of fifteen “solidly respected, savvy clubs” in the United States, “from which careers can be cut, that work with proven names and new faces.”
