If you ask him where is from, Austin Burns won’t have a straight answer for you. He’ll laugh and say, “I’m from around.” And that’s about as accurate as it gets. The 20-year-old musician has moved around his whole life, and has variously hung his hat in Texas, Kentucky, and even Costa Rica for a few years. Having returned to the state of his birth, he now resides in the Live Music Capital of America: Austin, TX. Burns learned to play guitar at age 10 and had already started writing songs by age 11. Despite starting at such a young age, he has musically maintained an old soul. Not one to be boxed in, he has developed an intimate style that blends elements of many genres, including folk and alternative rock, into something truly unique.
His style has been influenced by the singer-songwriter folk revival of the last ten years, and artists like Damien Rice, Tracy Chapman, Tom Waits, Fink, and Nick Cave. Burns is currently working on his first full-lenght album, soon to be released. In the meantime, you can listen to his EP, “Do you Love Me?”, check out his website at www.austinburnsofficial.com, like his Facebook page at Facebook.com/AustinBurnsMusic, and look for him on the Austin stages.
