Saturday February 6th, 2016- Hogg Auditorium on the campus of the University of Texas
Doors: 7pm Show: 8pm General Admission: $35.00
Stuff Like That There may well be a 25th anniversary sequel to the idea of Fakebook but to my ears it makes a case for simply returning to what moved Yo La Tengo to make things in the first place: embracing the people who they still hold close and making a spirited noise about it.
Does it not sound like fun to work with old friends like guitarist Dave Schramm and engineer Gene Holder? It also seems like a good way to try something “McNew,” like James McNew on upright bass, an elemental contribution whose significance cannot be overstated. With Fakebook as template, Stuff Like That There is a record with ties to the past which contribute to the sound they make furthered by an affinity for the sounds they love. Somehow they compose the already composed by return. It’s clear-eyed. It’s clever and concealed.
Hey everyone, Thanks so much for attending the upcoming Yo La Tengo show on Saturday February 6th at Hogg Auditorium. Here’s some important information to help enjoy the show.
Hogg Auditorium is located on the University of Texas campus at 2300 Whitis Ave (just east of Guadalupe on 24th street)
How to get here: Hogg is easily accessible using Capital Metro north & south bound routes including the 1, 801, 803 and various others. Please consult their website for times, fares and stops. If you are taking cab, Uber or Lyft the closest intersection to be dropped off is the east side of 24th & Guadalupe.
Special seating needs: If you require special seating (wheel chair access) please reach out to Amy Chambless at 512-475-6515 by Friday February 2nd at 5pm. Accessible seating for people with disabilities along with companion seats are available.
Parking: Parking on campus is by permit only. If you do not have a UT Austin permit you can not park on campus. We do suggest using the closest parking garages including San Antonio Garage and the UT Coop Parking garage There is a FEE for both of these lots so please read all signs regarding parking prices.
BATHROOMS: Hogg is an older building and does not have up to date restrooms. Think the small restrooms at the Paramount Theater if you have attended a show there.
Because of this we will allow you to leave and use the restrooms in the nearby Texas Union. We will have ushers to guide you and you will be allowed re-entry via wristband or hand stamp. Please keep this in mind it is not ideal but it’s where we are at the moment.
BAR: The Cactus Bar staff will have a full bar. BUT just like our ballroom and theater shows the bar will be CASH ONLY. ATMS are located nearby in the Union and on Guadalupe. We will have a great selection of local brews including Austin Beer Works, Marco IPA, Zilker Brewing and Austin Eastciders along with hard liquor selections and some wine.
NO ALCOHOL CAN BE TAKEN OUTSIDE THE VENUE. Got that?
The University of Texas at Austin is a Tobacco Free Campus. Please refer to the University policy here http://sites.utexas.edu/tobaccofree/faq-2/ for any questions.
SEATING: This is a general admission show. The earlier you are in line the better chance you have at the seats you want. We will come out to the line and check your ticket as well as your ID. Please be prepared to have both out.
You should have received your ticket via the confirmation email. If you need it resent please contact Amy Chambless at 512-475-6515. We will also have a master list of all tickets purchased and can check you off of that as wel Please have your ID out and ready for that when we come byl.
If you sit in the balcony (and believe it or not these are some of the best sounding and sight seats) please do not place items on the balcony railings! We do not want to have items like cell phones, drinks or purses falling and hitting patrons below. THE SHOW AND SET TIMES: Doors: 7pm (although we may open at touch earlier if things are looking good)
Show: Please keep in mind there is no opener so we hope to keep to these times to as close as possible. First Set: 8pm to 8:50pm Intermission: 8:50pm to 9:04pm Second Set: 9:05pm to 10:10pm
